Principal's Welcome
Wundowie Primary School is an Independent Public School in the Wheatbelt Region catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
Our staff are committed to providing a nurturing learning environment which equips all students with the skills they need to succeed. Our vision is 'Quality Teaching Empowering Students to Maintain Improved Performance' which is reflected in our use of evidence-based programs, explicit teaching and differentiated lessons to best meet the needs of all students.
Our school has a vision for every child, young person, family and educator to achieve their best possible mental health and wellbeing. We utilise a range of social and emotional learning programs including Smiling Minds, Zones of Regulation, Protective Behaviours and SDERA: Challenges and Choices.
Wundowie Primary is a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school. PBS is a process where staff, parents, students and the community work together to develop a safe, supportive and positive learning environment. Staff explicitly teach, acknowledge and promote our school values of “We are Responsible”, “We are Respectful” and “We Strive to be our Best”. Through using PBS, we support all students to become life-long learners and reach their full potential. Our whole school tokens help students to understand the idea of reward and recognition for their efforts in demonstrating our school values.
We aim for students to develop understanding and respect for diversity and an openness to different experiences and perspectives. One way our school builds upon students’ intercultural understanding is through the opportunity to learn another language. At Wundowie Primary, students have the opportunity to study Indonesian from Years 3 to 6. Additionally, our Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) provides our Kindergarten to Year 6 students with the Noongar Aboriginal Language enriched with cultural lessons.
Wundowie Primary School is set in a tree enhanced environment with beautiful gardens and ample lawn and play areas. Our updated basketball courts, nature play areas, new inclusive playground, several climbing frames and the town oval, which adjoins the school, provide our students with a range of activity areas that are utilised regularly.
The Wundowie Primary School P&C Association provides a platform for parent participation in the educative life of the school. They raise significant funds to support the educational programs on offer. Parent and community involvement is encouraged through an effective School Board with which we work to oversee school governance. Parents are seen as partners in the Wundowie school community and there is an underlying belief that by working together, student outcomes and well-being will be enhanced.
At Wundowie Primary School, we believe open communication and collaboration are vital to student success so please feel free to contact us to discuss any concerns, feedback or questions.
